FY 2025 Balanced Budget

Members of the House will be working with Governor Kemp, Speaker Burns and Appropriations chairman Hatchett to pass a balanced budget that helps families and meets the needs of a growing Georgia. I’m honored to work with fellow Republicans who continue to provide the leadership that provides relief for Georgia taxpayers facing the 40-year high inflation resulting from Bidenomics. The Appropriations Committee is currently reviewing the Governor’s budget proposal which includes-


● $2,500 salary increase for every public school teacher, marking a $10,000 increase in
the past 5 years
● $42 million to provide a $3,000 salary increase for POST certified law enforcement
officers, marking a $9,000 increase in the past 2 years for frontline law enforcement
● 4% cost of living adjustment for all state employees (up to $3,000)
● $104 million to provide school security grants to every school in the state – this will
become annual funding that schools can plan for moving forward and can use the funds
for security upgrades, school resource officers, and other investments
● $10 million to begin reducing Pre-K classroom sizes to ensure more quality outcomes
● $205 million to provide state support for local school transportation needs
● $11 million for K-12 literacy initiatives
● $9.5 million for a new additional behavioral health crisis center
● $1 million to expand access to mental health services for Georgia’s military service
members, veterans and their families
● $1 million to expand the maternal health pilot program in rural communities
● $205 million for the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities and
other entities that address mental health in our state
● $80 million for increasing reimbursement rates for home and community providers that
serve individuals with developmental disabilities under the NOW/COMP waiver program ● $2.3 million for 100 additional NOW/COMP disability waiver slots
● $4 million for the Safe Harbor for Sexually Exploited Children Fund Commission for
rehabilitation of victims of sex trafficking
